GET TO KNOW DANIEL TOWNSEND

As an educator of young children, I am intent on keeping learning alive by appealing to each student's diverse background, unique experiences, and innate curiosities, the same way the wonderful teachers in my life have done.

To that end, I am pursuing my Masters Degree in Learning Design and Technology at the University of Southern California with the intent of directing K-12 curriculum and instruction at the school-district level. I am particularly interested in broadening the scope of educational and career opportunities for students through rigorous and systematic literacy instruction, especially for English Learners and other underserved populations.

I am also an ardent student, practitioner, and/or supporter of music, theatre, politics, and lifestyle. I love spending my free time reading a good book, exploring new recipes, singing and playing piano, and enjoying great movies, performances, and travels with friends, family, and my English Cocker Spaniel, Lady.
